Sabudana Vada Recipe

INGREDIENTS 1 cup Sabudana 4 medium sized potatoes ½ cup peanuts 1 tsp cumin seeds 1-2 green chilies, finely chopped 1 tsp ginger, finely chopped 2 tsp lime juice 2 tbsp chopped coriander leaves 1.5 tsp sugar Catch sendha namak, as required Oil, for frying Accompaniments with Sabudana Vada:

  • Sweet Curd
  • Mint Chutney
  • Ketchup

Preparation for Sabudana Vada 1) Soak the sabudana in water for 5 hours or overnight. 2) Drain off all the water from the sabudana and transfer the sabudana to a mixing bowl. 3) Boil the potatoes. Peel and then mash them. Mix the mashed potatoes and sabudana together. 4) In a shallow pan, roast the peanuts till they become crisp and crunchy. Cool and then coarsely powder them. 5) Add the peanuts, Catch sendha namak, cumin seeds, sugar, ginger, green chilies, coriander leaves and lemon juice to the sabudana. Mix the entire mixture well. Making Sabudana Vada: 1) Now take some portion of the mixture in your hands and shape them into flat, round vadas. 2) Do this till all the mixture is utilized. 3) Heat oil in a pan for frying. 4) Add the vadas, one at a time and fry them till they are golden brown on each side. 5) After frying, remove them on a kitchen paper towel for the oil to get soaked. 6) Serve the vadas hot. Recipe Notes/ Suggestions:

  • Make sure you soak the sabudana really well, it should be soft.
  • If the sabudana vada breaks while frying, then you can add some flour to the mixture.
  • If you want the vadas to be crisp from the outside, then let them become browner while frying.
