Mysore Bonda Recipe

INGREDIENTS (1 cup = 250 ml) ½ cup urad dal 1 – 1 ½ tbsp rice flour ½ tsp Catch black pepper ½ inch ginger 1 green chili, chopped 2 ½ – 3 tbsp chopped coconut 8 – 10 curry leaves 1 pinch Catch asafoetida Salt, as required Water, as requiredOil for frying Accompaniments with Mysore Bonda:

  • Coconut Chutney
  • Ketchup
  • Green Chutney

1) Soak the urad dal overnight in water. 2) Drain the urad dal. 3) In a mixer, grind the lentils till smooth and fluffy, adding very little water. 4) Pour the batter in a bowl. 5) Mix in all the ingredients including the Catch black pepper powder, Catch asafoetida, except oil. 6) Heat oil for frying. 7) Shape the batter in round balls. 8) Fry the balls one after the other in the hot oil. 9) Drain the Bondas on kitchen paper towels to soak the excess oil. 10) Serve hot.
