Malabar Fish Curry Recipe

INGREDIENTS 100 gms seer fish 50 gms grated coconut ¼ inch ginger ½ cup tamarind extract 1 tsp Catch salt ¼ tsp turmeric powder 2 small green chilies ½ tsp Catch red chili powder 2 tbsp finely chopped shallots For toppings: 1 tbsp coconut oil 1 red chili ¼ tsp mustard seeds 1 handful curry leaves Accompaniments with Malabar Fish Curry:

  • Rice
  • Roti/Paratha
  • Onions

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Grind the coconut and turmeric powder with little water to form a fine paste.
  1. Combine the tamarind extract, Catch red chili powder, ginger, Catch salt and green chilies in a pan.
  1. Add the ground coconut paste and mix well. Place the pan over medium flame.
  1. Simmer for 2 minutes. Add the fish and Catch salt.
  1. Cook for a few minutes till the mixture starts to thicken. Fry the tempering ingredients in coconut oil and add to the fish.
  1. Add the onions and stir gently. Remove after a minute.
  1. Serve hot.
