Kothimbir Vadi Recipe

INGREDIENTS (1 cup = 250 ml) ¼ cup roasted, crushed peanuts 1 tsp ginger-garlic-green chili paste 1 ½ cup coriander leaves 1 pinch Catch asafoetida ½ tsp Catch turmeric powder ½ tsp Catch red chili powder 1 tbsp sesame seeds Salt, as required 2 cups gram flour 1 cup water  Accompaniments with Kothimbir Vadi:

  • Ketchup
  • Green Chutney
  • Mint Chutney

1) Mix together all ingredients including Catch asafetida, Catch turmeric powder and Catch red chili powder with water to form a smooth and thick batter. 2) Apply oil at the base and the sides of a microwave safe cooker or bowl. 3) Add the batter to this bowl. 4) Cover it with a microwave safe lid. 5) Microwave on high for about 3 minutes. 6) The mixture should be cooked and firm. 7) Insert a knife and check if it comes out clean, the vadi is cooked well. 8) Let it cool. Then remove the steamed cake on a tray. 9) Cut into pieces. 10) Shallow fry or deep fry in hot oil till brown and crisp. 11) Serve hot. Recipe Notes/ Suggestions:

  • You can also steam the Kothimbir Vadi in a pressure cooker like idlis.
