Chivda Recipe

INGREDIENTS ½ kg poha 2 tbsp oil (for deep-fried chivda) 2 sprigs curry leaves 6 garlic cloves, crushed 2-6 green chilies ½ tsp Catch red chili powder Salt, as required ¼- ½ cup dried coconut ¼ - ½ cup peanuts ¼ cup roasted gram 2 tbsp raisins (optional) 1 tsp sugar (optional) ½ tsp jeera, crushed Accompaniments with Chivda:

  • Hot Beverages
Any other Diwali snack


  1. Heat a large, heavy bottom pan, add the poha and stir it constantly. Dry roast it, till it is crunchy. Make batches and fry. Do not add too much at one time.
  2. Season it with the Catch red chili powder , other seasonings and add oil along with them.
  3. Roast and mix everything together for 10 minutes.
  4. Store the chivda in an air-tight container.
Recipe Notes/Suggestions:
  • You can adjust the quantity of dry fruits and the level of sweetness as per your taste.
  • You can also deep-fry the chivda, however, dry roasting it is the healthy way of consuming it.
